American Education Seminar and Tour for Education Administrators and Government Officials from China
A 1 or 2-week program for middle school and high school principals, top-level university administrators, and government education officials. Translated guest lectures about the American education system are complemented by tours of local schools, institutions of higher education, and meetings with government officials and colleagues in education.

Modern American Society and Culture Program for Teachers from Germany
A 3-week summer homestay program for primary- and secondary-level teachers from Germany. Daily schedule includes lectures, presentations, and field trips designed to provide a taste of what modern American life is really like. Topics include American institutions of education, welfare, politics, religion, health care, family and multiculturalism. All courses/lectures are taught in English. Participants live with homestay families.

Teacher Training

Japanese Teacher Training Programs
This open-enrollment program provides a 2 or 3-week experience for Japanese professionals teaching English in their home country or for those who are studying to become teachers of English. This program features a curriculum of EFL (designed to reinforce/improve the teacher's own English skills), TEFL, and related site visits. The TEFL curriculum offers workshops such as how to teach reading, writing, speaking/listening; developing curriculum; how to use computers in the classroom; theoretical foundations of second language learning; testing instruments; portfolio-based assessment. Participants live with host families. Program requires a minimum of 10 participants.

JSL Teacher Training for Japanese Language Instructors from Japan
A 2-week program designed for teachers and students in Japan who are preparing for, or already in, a career teaching Japanese language to non-Japanese speakers. Program includes an OPI workshop (Oral Proficiency Interview as certified by ACTFL) and a seminar in intercultural communications. instruction is designed to meet the new standards required by the Japanese government's Ministry of Education. All courses are taught in Japanese. Participants stay with host families or in a nearby hotel.
