English and American Nursing
American
Nursing Experience for Nurses from Japan
A 4, 7, 10, or 14-month program that combines full-time English language
training with a weekly American nursing seminar, featuring translated
lectures and visits to clinics and hospitals. Upon completion of the language
part of the program, participants begin a 1 to 2 month, individualized
shadowing experience that exposes them to various American nursing roles
and settings in their specific area of interest/expertise. Participants
live with homestay families or in a university dormitory.
American
Nursing and English Language Training for Nursing Students from Japan
A 2 or 3-week summer program that includes basic English conversation
classes complemented by daily lectures and site visits, focusing on a
general introduction to the modern American nursing and health care systems.
Interpreters are provided for all lectures and visits. Lecture topics
include: Health care in the USA today, oncology nursing, home health care,
care of the elderly, nursing careers, nursing education in the USA. Site
visits include: hospital tours, nursing home, AIDS hospice, ICU, oncology
unit, out-patent clinic, NICU. Participants live with host families or
in a university dormitory.
Specialized
Medical Programs for Nursing and Healthcare Professionals from Japan
A 1 or 2-week program designed for nurses, nursing students, and other
healthcare professionals that provides a look at current specialized medical
care in the USA. Interpreters are provided for all lectures and visits.
Participants live in a dormitory or an apartment-style hotel.
