American Life and University Preparation Program for Graduate Students from Germany
Held every September
A 2-week orientation program for German graduate students, who are participants in a semester or year-long Oregon University System exchange program. Topics include finding housing, cultural adjustment cycle, American higher education system, buying a car, health and safety. Participants live in dormitory housing.

Fulbright Gateway Orientation 2006
August, 2006
PSU is proud to be a host site for the Fulbright Gateway Orientation. Between 60-65 Fulbright graduate students and scholars attend this 3-day Orientation Program, designed to prepare participants for university, academic, and daily life in the USA. Click here for program overview and schedule >>


"Study in the USA" Preparation Program for High School Exchange Students from Japan
A 2-week orientation program for high school exchange students from Japan, prior to the start of their 1-year exchange student experience in the USA. Linguistic, cultural, and academic classes prepare students for American high school life. Participants live with local host families.


Re-Entry Orientation for High School Exchange Students from Japan
A 2 to 3-day intensive re-entry seminar for Japanese high school exchange students who have completed their year-abroad program, prior to their return home. Topics covered include re-entry adjustment cycle, study abroad and your future, planning for college, host family communications, reflection on personal growth. Participants live in dormitory housing.


Orientation to America and High School Life for Students from NIS/Eurasian countries
A 4-week orientation program for high school exchange students (many of whom have physical disabilities) from NIS/Eurasian countries. This program provides linguistic, academic, and cultural preparation as a prelude to participants' 1-year exchange student experience in the USA. Participants live with local host families.

 

Intensive English Language Program Office of International Affairs Portland State University
